Studio 60 pilot

May 14th, 2006

I read the early draft of the Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip script that’s been floating around the internet tonight (inspiration from Warren Ellis). For those of you just joining the Studio 60 bandwagon, it’s the new show from Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, Sports Night) that’s debuting on NBC this fall, all about the exploits of a SNL-type show that’s past it’s prime (is that redundant?).

Sidenote: when was the last time you actually read something on a Geocities site? Man, those were the days.

The script was excellent, sharp as a tack, exactly what you’d expect from Sorkin. I first fell in love with the Sork (I hope that catches on) back in the Sports Night days, and this is his triumphant return to the world of Shows About Live Shows. And it even has Felicity Huffman in it!

Studio 60 will star Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford alongside Amanda Peet, Timothy Busfield, Steven Weber, and - get this - Nate Corddry, who plays a cast member. Amazing!

Check out Action! for some fansite goodness. They also have a link to the first promo for the show that aired tonight during The West Wing’s finale. I might post some thoughts on that after I watch it later.
